How to Avoid Mistakes that Could Be Costly on Your Credit

If you’re taking a look at your credit report and in the process of trying to get a loan for a new home, here’s a word of caution:

On your report, you want to make certain that it does not have any loans listed that you’ve closed as “Closed by the Grantor.” If that phrase does appear on your report, that’s something you’re going to want to get fixed.

What it means is that the lender closed the account and not you. This is important because lenders typically close accounts because of a non-payment or default. This will certainly have a negative impact on your ability to borrow money.

Make sure the report says the account is “Closed by consumer’s request” and you should be good to go.

If you have any other questions for me about buying a home, selling a home, or real estate in general, don’t hesitate to contact me directly via phone or email. I look forward to helping you.
