The Ultimate Guide Before Moving Into Your New Home

Finally, the long wait is over…

From the tons of paperwork and the waiting period to the emotional coaster, you may feel uncertain if you have chosen the right home for you and your family.

Well, it isn't over yet… There are still some essential things to do - like packing.

Are you feeling overwhelmed?

No worries, I got you.

I have prepared this valuable resource for you. Please watch this.

What should you do before you move into your new home?

Find a good mover
Doing it yourself is fine, but I highly recommend getting a good mover. It is harder to move than what you remember. Also, you may forget important stuff in your home.

Secure a good packing material
Whether that came from your mover or Giant Supermarket down the street, or whatever the case may be, it's better to find the professional boxes 📦 that you can unfold. Less hassle for you, too.

Organize your items
You may want to organize your stuff and declutter before the movers come:

  • Give Yourself Time. Don't wait until the day the movers arrive to decide what to pack and what to get rid of

  • Throw, donate, or sell some things out

  • You may want to relocate some of your things

  • Separate the breakables

  • Labels… Labels… Labels… - It works wonders.

Go ahead and make those transitions, then place everything else on the box to get ready for the movers.

Transfer all the utilities
Imagine this…

You are in your new home on your 2nd night and getting surprised that you don't have A/C or heater, or worse, you can't watch football because the previous owner already canceled the utilities.

This situation happened to one of my clients. 😅

Update your new address
Another "must-do" is for you to forward your mail to the correct address—check in with the post office. You may also want to check that all the boxes delivered by the mover are correct so you won't have any problems with your belongings.
