The Truth About Tyson's Corner

Tyson’s Corner may be considered one of the best malls in Northern Virginia. It has a wide array of shops. It’s in an affluent location – pretty central in regard to schools and villages. But it’s not as safe as you thought.

Here’s what you should know about Tyson’s Corner…

Is Tyson Corner Dangerous? - Northern Virginia Realty

Highest-Rated in Crimes

Despite the high foot traffic and the best stores in probably all of Northern Virginia, Tyson’s Corner has the highest rating in terms of crimes. While shoplifting occurs in almost all malls, Tyson’s Corner has had reports of smash-and-grabs and shootings compared to Springfield Town Center, Potomac Mills or Pentagon City.

False Reports

There have also been instances where events have been misreported. Once, a light fixture fell over and it was reported as a shooting, so customers were alarmed and scared.

Another time, some kids tried putting Mentos in a 2-liter bottle of soda and it exploded in a movie theater, which caused some ruckus.

The number of cases that happened in Tyson’s Corner has earned it the highest crime rate. Even so, it’s still one of the malls in Northern Virginia that gets a lot of foot traffic. It also has some of the best stores in the area. For that, it’s still my favorite mall in the entire Northern Virginia area.
